Magnetic Ballast

All ballast manufacturers recommend replacing ballast every 2 years. It may sound like they just want to sell more ballasts but the truth is, as the ballast reaches the end of its life, it cycles and constantly is trying to re-fire the light bulb. This causes premature bulb burnout, additional energy usage, and a diminishing of the quality of light. It doesn't pay to be penny-wise and pound foolish when it comes to your ballast. You can buy singly or by the box. New fixtures are no longer manufactured with magnetic ballast and after 2010 magnetic replacement ballast will no longer be available.
